Druckrohrleitung/Wasser Rohrleitung

The Colgate Penstock is located in northern California and conveys water from the New Bullard’s Bar Dam through tunnels drilled in the mountain to the Colgate Powerhouse, approximately five miles below the dam.

Early in 2008, MCC was awarded a small contract to remove existing coatings and repaint weld lanes for the installation of a 14.5 feet (4.42 meter) diameter, 83-ton butterfly valve on the Colgate Penstock.

From the valve 970 lineal feet (296m) of steel penstock extend into the mountain at a slight uphill grade, and then transition to a 25’ (7.6m) diameter unlined shaft drilled through the rock that eventually leads back to the dam.
