Development of a self-adhering foil for the combined active/passive corrosion protection of steel structures

The application of liquefied organic coating materials to steel structures is associated with a number of challenges, including proper mixing, overspray, explosion protection, health and safety measures, extensive climatization, long curing intervals and, film thickness variations. The use of self-adherend thin solid films that combine active corrosion protection (inhibitors, pigments) and passive protection (barrier) is an attractive alternative. The project FoKOWind is concerned with the development of such a foil, including an application machine.

The project is still ongoing, and we will soon report about the results.
